Our Bespoke Coaching Team

Challenge Tri Camp coaches are full-time professionals dedicated to improving the performances of their athletes your success and continued improvement is our core goal, all our coaches have worked in close cooperation developing the Challenge Tri Camp coaching methods, so which ever coach you wish to work with please be assured that the same fundamental training methods will be employed when designing your program.

All our coaches have experience in training and working with athletes at all levels, and stages of there triathlon journey.

Below is a little bit about each of our Coaches….

Nick…started life as a personal trainer, building his own business in Nottingham for several years before his status as ‘keen triathlete’ turned into a profession. Founder and Head Coach at Challenge Tri Camp, Nick has worked with triathletes at all stages of their triathlon career from complete novices to European podium athletes. As an Age Group winner at the 2009 and 2013 World Triathlon Championships and 2011 AG European Champion, Nick knows what it takes to get to the top in the amateur rankings.

“I have been lucky enough to work with lots of different people through my coaching career, from novice athletes to professionals racing on the European circuit. I have also worked closely with the local community & set up a local tri club which is hugely rewarding to see grow.

As a coach I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my athletes, understanding what makes them tick and which sessions they’ll most benefit from. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the benefits of athlete’s hard work as they cross the finish line with a PB and are flying. That’s what gets me up in the morning”

Nick Dunn

Coach

Brent…began his sporting career as a runner before moving into triathlon, and hasn’t looked back since.

“I have competed in races of all distances all over the world including multiple Ironmen and 70.3s I also hold age group titles and have raced at both ITU World and ETU European level. I have previously coached and delivered training camps for Team GB Age Group triathletes working towards team selection as well as athletes looking to achieve more varied goals, such as becoming a first time Ironman finisher.

I have a natural empathy with Age Group athletes who are trying to balance the demands of our sport with a hectic work lifestyle and with limited amounts of time to train. Getting results is a key Challenge Tri Camp coaching principle so we work very closely with our athletes to prepare for the race season. As a qualified coach, and a British Triathlon Team Manger, I draw on lessons learnt and my experiences over two decades in running, multi-sports, cycling and swimming to help guide you to achieving your own personal triathlon goals, I look forward to working with you.

Brent Perkins

Coach

Rob…has 7 years experience racing triathlons over all distances. He has won British Age-Group Championships at Sprint, Olympic and Middle-Distance and in 2013, recorded the 2nd fastest Ironman time in the world by an amateur clocking 8:39:41 at Ironman Copenhagen. As well as an in-depth knowledge of triathlon training, Rob has also spent the last couple of years training alongside professional cyclists and also provides cycle coaching based on high level sports physiology and power data analysis used by Professional Cycling teams at the very highest level.

Rob Brundish

Coach

Kat…With a background in competitive swimming, Kat was tempted once to try open water swimming following her studies at university and despite her initial reservations fell in love with it, entering and winning her next triathlon. She had found her new sport!

“I’ve been part of the GB Age Group team every year since I started tri and won medals at Europeans and World races, but it’s not just about the results, I’ve also made some of my best friends through a shared love for training, lycra and, erm, neoprene!
I love triathlon and as a coach I get to share my experiences and help others whether they are just starting out in the world of tri, or are an experienced athlete striving for the podium. I look forward to meeting you at Challenge Tri Camp, you’re going to love it!”

Kat Berry

Coach

Chris…With over 20 years triathlon coaching experience, coach Chris has worked with a ‘whose who’ of triathletes. Best known for coaching Lucy Gossage to numerous Ironman wins and podiums positions, not to mention her Kona top 10 performance, he has also seen Lou Collins (Bates) to an Ironman podium, Kona age group and National hill climb (cycling) champion. All in all Chris has a wealth of knowledge in turning his athletes into winners – he even coached Challenge Tri Camp’s very own Nick Dunn to his first world championship gold in Australia.
Chris was awarded BTF coach of the year in 2009 and can help you improve and reach your training goals. “I believe that training and coaching are a mix of art and science, and the key to success is understanding the individual athlete” he says. Chris has worked on a successful academic career, but the sun beckons, and we’re excited to have him on our coaching team. Chris is available for individual coaching now!

Chris Hunt

Coach

Michael…I have a passion for working with people and enjoy talking so combined with my passion for triathlon, my job as a guide and coach is perfect.

I have been a personal trainer and coach for the last 3 years and worked with all ability levels, I love helping people achieve their goals and be the best they can be. As a personal trainer I have a strong interest and enjoyment in seeing how strength and conditioning improve performance. Whilst on camp I run  strength & conditioning sessions.

Although coaching comes first for me, I still enjoy racing, mainly middle distance events but get dragged to the odd sprint event despite the fact my body doesn’t have a fast twitch muscle in it!”
