COACH ATHLETE RELATIONSHIP

The Coach athlete relationship is recognised as a key performance factor in today’s modern sporting environment. Like any other relationship it is defined by the quality of understanding, respect, trust and predictability that exists between two people.
We believe in this and this is how it works with Challenge Tri Camp. 

A training plan that is bespoke for you using the data we collect from our consultation and your 1-2-1 training day with us.  All our Coached Athletes attend a 1-2-1 training day with us at our coaching facilities so the we can establish your base line fitness and your goals. We then set up your Training Peaks account, correct your training zones, and then you are ready to start, with your weekly plan delivered to your phone, laptop to tablet.  We make sure you understand the terminology within the plan, the training process and how feedback and changes work, so you get the most out of your coaching. Our methodology and your structured sessions are all designed just for you.

THE CHALLENGE TRI CAMP DIFFERENCE

At Challenge Tri Camp we focus on ‘coaching the athlete’ with all of our plans written and provided specifically for the individual athlete, whatever their training needs.
Structure
There are many components involved in how an athlete prepares for an event. How long should your build be, how many sessions a week, what type of sessions and how to integrate them into your daily life.
Accountability
Accountability is something a coach can provide in a one-on-one programme,  knowing someone else is looking and also interested in how each sessions goes is a great motivator and makes us more effective.
Motivation
Daily training, while effective, can also be draining. From hard tempo runs to long bike rides, the training can be daunting at times. Having someone else to cheer you on and push your limits can make all the difference.
Overtraining/Injury
Endurance training can be addictive, and overtraining is a real concern. Having a coach monitor not just your daily workouts but your overall health can keep you from overdoing it. Additionally, rest is as necessary as training in order to make fitness gains.
Effective use of Time
The majority of athletes have limited time to spend training, so ensuring that every session matters and no time is wasted is key. Having a plan that works with your schedule and directly address your strengths and weaknesses can take you to the next level.

Set your thresholds and zones – All of the personalized workout targets and data analysis in TrainingPeaks is based on your Functional Threshold.
Connect your devices and apps – TrainingPeaks is compatible with hundreds of the most popular devices and mobile apps (Including Garmin, Zwift, Wahoo, and Suunto). We make sure your TrainingPeaks account is connected to your device so your completed workouts upload automatically to your TrainingPeaks account.
Challenge Tri Camp Build Your  Plan. Whether you are training for your first race or you’ve been racing for years, TrainingPeaks works best with a bespoke plan from Challenge Tri Camp.
Monitor your progress. Once we have built your bespoke plan in TrainingPeaks we can review your workouts and track your progress over time.

CAMP TRAINING WEEKS

We like all our athletes to feel part of family. When ever possible we try and bring our athletes together with out coaching team in both the UK and on our camps. Our training week camps in Mallorca are designed to work with and complement your coached activities and are the perfect opportunity to really focus on your goal for the season. This means that not only will you have your coach to support you but you will also have the rest of the Challenge Tri Camp team! All athletes will be invited to join the closed (and private) Challenge Tri Camp Coached Athlete Facebook group where you will be able to chat to the rest of the athletes going through the same things as you. Challenge Tri Camp also run a number of coaching clinics throughout the year which Coached Athletes have priority access to.

Our Coaching team is headed up by Brent and Nick who are the owners of Challenge Tri Camp and work with our athletes on a full-time basis. Challenge Tri Camp Coaching Products and Services have been created to support the coaching and training philosophy provided for our athletes.

Challenge Tri Camp
I am professional coach working full time with Challenge Tri Camp and have been for over 10 years, I began my sporting career as a runner before moving into triathlon,  Over the last 10 years I have coached and worked with athletes working towards there training and racing goals, In 2019 I coached and worked with athletes to win Age Group World & European Championships in both Triathlon and Duathlon and Ironman World championships slots. Getting results is a key Challenge Tri Camp coaching principle, I work very closely with my athletes to prepare for the race. As a qualified coach, a British Triathlon Team Manager, as well as a Certified Training Peaks Coach, and just one of 37 Swim Smooth Coach in the World, I also won Coach of the year 2019-20. I have coached and delivered training camps for Team GB Age Group triathletes working towards team selection as well as athletes looking to becoming a first time Ironman finisher, It's my job to help guide my athletes to achieving personal goals and enjoy there journey. As an athlete I have competed in races of all distances all over the world including multiple Ironman and 70.3's, I also held age group titles and have raced at both ITU World and ETU European level, in the ultra running world I have completed 2 x LAMM 1x RAB MM and in 2019 I completed the Mallorca 5000 SkyRun, but thats far to much about me. 😀

Challenge Tri Camp
I am full time coach working with Challenge Tri Camp and have been for over 10 years, after winning my second age group World Championship Gold medal in 2013 I knew I wanted to finish my racing days on a high and focus on coaching. I knew it was time as I was more interested in helping others than my own sessions towards the end of my training days, I have not looked back since. I get more from coaching and seeing others achieving their goals than I did when racing! I have been fortunate enough to have worked with some great people from complete beginners to professionals. I have helped guide people to their first events as well as recently in 2019 coaching two athletes to Age Group World Champion status. All of my bespoke coaching programmes are designed to the Challenge Tri Camp principles. These programmes although I plan them are a joint effort between me and the athlete and my job is to ensure it works for them, is realistic but also achievable and fun.
