Having ‘dabbled’ in sprint Triathlons for the last 3 years, with the support of my Tri club coaches and friends, I decided to enter the Cotswold 113. Attending this Challenge Tri Camp was part of my plan to see how far I could actually push myself. I have to say that it has been invaluable in my development both psychologically and physiologically. The coaches were really supportive throughout the week and they helped me to make some very important changes to my technique; I found the swim analysis particularly helpful and informative. I overcame feelings of significant fatigue to train hard again day after day and I now feel more confident in my ability to succeed. I definitely recommend this camp and this company. My top reasons why i’ll be returning to a TriCamp 1. I was encouraged to physically and mentally push myself 10x harder than I would training alone 2. The hotel is absolutely PERFECT for sport lovers with its private equipped bike garage, 25m saline pool and free laundry 3. I had an amazing week with challenge Tri Camp in Mallorca. I have improved myself a lot in cycling. Coaches were always next to us, they are all very nice and they never leave you behind:-) . We trained the 3 sports: swimming (even with recorded video to correct the technic) , with wetsuit in the pool and in open water. Cycling in different routes (hills, time trial,...), running techniques (stairs, trail,...), core lessons... , a very completed triathlon week adapt to all levels. The coaches are wonderful!! Thanks to Mark, Bernat, Brent and Helen for your advices and professionalism !! We have just booked Challenge Tri Camp for the third year running. What was a birthday treat has now become a kickstart to our triathlon season. So what is making us come back year on year, well when you love to swim, bike, run you get to do that every day! Making friends with other crazy people who like to do the same! Challenge Tri Camp caters for all levels of abilities from complete novices to age groupers. The coaching team are friendly and approachable. They have a wealth of triathlon knowledge and there is always something new to learn. The hotel, location and facilities are great. Challenge Tri camp was my first experience of a triathlon training camp and I can honestly say I couldn’t have had a better experience. The coaches are professional welcoming and really take the time to get to know your needs and plan accordingly. I enjoyed my first week so much I booked a second week and plan to go back next year. I learnt a lot and improved in all three disciplines and can say the camp definitely contributed to my improved performance this season. I went to swim camp this year and have booked again for next year. Hotel, food, bike garage, pool and rooms all high standard. I like to train a lot and the days were full. 2 coached swims and a bike ride most days plus a few runs and some stretching and core in the mix as well., the good thing is, if you want more free time, you can miss sessions without judgement. The quality of coaching was excellent.As a mediocre swimmer I went to camp with two goals, a step change in my swim times and to overcome my fear of the sea. Both goals achieved. On the last sea swim I did a full 70.3 distance swim and my pool 400m time improved by 21 seconds in the week and a further 14 seconds within a month of getting home and putting all I had learned into practice. My stroke was unrecognisable from the video at the start of the camp. I sat with the coach and made sure I wrote down all the coaching points for my particular stroke issues...he was very patient! But it meant I went home with an armoury of drills to practice. I also came away much more confident at group riding and with some fabulous new friends to follow on Strava Highly recommended whether you are looking for a holiday with the added bonus of coached sessions, or as in my case some serious training and coaching in the sunshine or somewhere in between...All are catered for. I did the Middle distance camp in April. I am new to triathlons and being my first camp I was initially a bit nervous to go on my own and about the level required but it was all dispelled in the first 24hrs! The camp is organised to cover different abilities and the coaches and fellow athletes were awesome. I came away with great advice and new friends. Triathlon training camps in Mallorca

Middle distance demands a lot on the body with a mix of speed and endurance.  Our middle distance camps are designed to help get you ready for your big race(s), with a mix of power and pacing sessions alongside stamina based training.  Our middle distance weeks are planned to bring about benefits across all three sports while putting them all together with race simulation sessions and practical and theory based learning on how to tackle the distance. Ironman 70.3, Middle, Half distance, even aqua bike whatever you want to call it this distance is tough and we can help prepare you.

This 7 night camp is based from our 4* sports hotel in Playa De Muro, Mallorca, with half board meal plan. The hotel offers an onsite 25 metre heated outdoor pool, fully equipped gym, secure bike garage and spa with hot and cold therapies. 

Swim: The week includes a one to one swim video analysis with individual coach feedback so that you can work on your technique during the coached pool and open water swim sessions. 

Bike: All athletes are assessed on Day 1 to establish riding strengths and skills and grouped accordingly. Rides are varied by terrain and distance, rolling flats and mountain rides from 50k to 100k. We operate a no-drop policy so no athlete gets left behind. 

Run: Brick runs, drills and technique work, and tempo runs are guided by our coaches. These sessions can be either road or off road and are suitable for all athletes. 

Strength and Core: Most days finish with a strength or core session to complete your training day. These sessions are designed to complement the training effect for the day.

Coaching: Challenge Tri Camp provide a high coach to athlete training ratio with the opportunity for one to one sessions to work on your individual requirements.

Camp Schedule: Athletes can expect approximately 27 plus hours of coached activities throughout the week with a specific schedule that builds in intensity and also allows for a half day rest period to avoid over training.

Hello from Brent & Nick, we are professional triathlon coaches – Challenge Tri Camp is our full time job. We have a vast amount of experience working with a wide range of athletes from beginners right through to athletes competing at a top level in major Championships. We look forward to meeting you on camp or at one of our UK events.

THE TRAINING SCHEDULE

The main sessions start on the Sunday morning with a swim followed by a ride and then a brick run. You can expect approximately 27 plus hours coached activities throughout the week. We swim, bike and run most days, with Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon off for recovery. The swims are either in the 25m outdoor heated lane pool on site or sea swims 100m from the hotel. It is mandatory for athletes to swim in a wetsuit during the sea swims for health and safety insurance purposes. There will be approx 6-7 swims throughout the week. The swim on the first Sunday morning includes a video session which is then used for your swim assessment with a coach on a 1:2:1 basis later that day. Most runs are brick runs, off the bike, with some longer road and trail runs/walks.

The first ride (approx 60-65km) is an assessment ride where we ask athletes to self seed themselves in the ride groups and the coaches then assess to make sure each athlete is in the right group for the week. The rides build in distance through the week and range from flat and rolling, to mountain rides with quite a bit of descending and climbing. Depending on each ride groups abilities determines the distances that are achieved by the end of the week. We operate a no-drop policy so no athlete gets left behind to find their own way back to the hotel, there is always a coach on hand to support any back markers.The last day of coached activities is Friday and the sessions normally finish during the mid afternoon. On Saturday morning there is an uncoached swim session.

 

VIVA BLUE HOTEL & SPA

The Viva Blue Hotel and Spa based in Playa De Muro in the north of Mallorca is an established favourite for triathletes, with its range of sports facilities including a 25 metre outdoor heated swimming pool, fully equipped gym, secure bike garage and luxury spa.

YOUR ACCOMMODATION

Your room is apartment style with a twin/double bedroom, separate lounge area, small kitchenette and bathroom. Your room is fully air conditioned, with ample wardrobe space, a hairdryer and in the lounge area has a TV with English speaking channels, a sofa, and a dining table and chairs. All rooms have a balcony which overlooks either the pool area or the nature reserve at the rear of the hotel.

YOUR BOARD BASIS

Our package is provided with Half Board Meal Plan (Breakfast and evening meal) in the Caprice Buffet restaurant.

Imagine strolling past counters stocked to the brim with delicious food. That’s what the hotel buffet is like. From the early hours of the morning, the buffet offers you anything you might fancy – from an energetic, healthy breakfast or one full of sweet treats. The choice is completely up to you!

When it’s time for dinner, visit the Show Cooking stations; ENERGY, with salads and fresh products. GOURMET, with meats and fish cooked to your liking. Everything is freshly cooked!

You’ll be constantly surprised by our buffet. We organise themed dinners on a weekly basis, with Mallorcan, Japanese or Mexican cuisine. They are a lot of fun! And, of course, there’s always a variety of top-quality dishes available. 

The buffet caters for most dietary requirements including Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free and Lactose Free so there is always something for everyone.

YOUR JOURNEY TO CAMP

The airport in Mallorca is called Palma Airport PMI (sometimes known as Son Sant Joan Airport). This is where you will want to arrange flights and transfers to and from.

Private Shuttle Bus – www.hoppa.com and www.shuttletransunion.com – These companies offer shared shuttle services to and from Palma airport to popular resorts.  You will need to check exact drop off locations and prices but fares are approximately £15-20 round trip per person plus bike box.  Transfers must be booked online in advance of travel and you must email the company directly to book bike boxes onto transfers.

Car Hire – Vanrell – There are many car hire options on the island, Vanrell are local to the hotel in Port Alcudia/Playa De Muro, please see the link to book.  They offer a one way car hire option which is also a good option. There is free parking opposite the hotel.

Private Taxi Company – email – info@2gocycling.com – These offer very reasonable transfer rates for groups and individuals.  Email them for a quote.

Local Bus service – www.tib.org – The bus number you would require is 351 which you would have to get on from the main bus and train station in Palma city centre.  Buses run regularly from the airport to Palma bus station.  There are information points on bus transportation in both the airport and the bus station.

The transfer time is approx. 45 mins but we would allow an hour to 90 mins in case of traffic.

Please note that you will be able to check in to your room from 2pm and we ask that you check out of the hotel at 12am on your day of departure, although bags may be stored until your transfer time when you can return to collect luggage and bikes as applicable.
